This is a new section of the website that will feature a child that we sponsor to go to school in St. Vincent. Each child's story is unique in its own way--and the support they receive from the Foundation helps them to gain the education--and the opportunities--they so deserve.

St. Vincent and the Grendadines is an Eastern Caribbean island nation. Many people think of cruises and vacations on the beach when they think of the Caribbean. Life, unfortunately, isn't so easy down in St. Vincent. Youth, especially, are dealing with a lot of problems, including abuse, poverty and a lack of employment opportunities. Our hope is that we can assist these young people in becoming successful members of Vincentian society. The Denniston Thomas Foundation now has a Soccer Team playing for its glory! Zog Sports, www.zogsports.com, is a Sports League that rewards the winning teams by donating a portion of their proceeds to the charity of the teams choice. This year we have teamed up with a group of 17 athletes to try and bring home the Co-Ed Adult Outdoor Soccer League Championship. We will keep you updated as the weeks and victories go by:

Team CUGS Won it All!! That's right. We won 4 straight playoff games (3-2, 4-2, 5-2 and 5-3 in the final)! Incredible. The Denniston Thomas Foundation would like to thank all of our great teammates that pulled together to make this happen. It was a great experience and our win brought in $500 for the Foundation! Yah!!!

U2 Raffle!

Our U2 Raffle was a huge success! Thanks to all of you who supported us by buying tickets and coming out for the raffle drawing! Here's a note from our raffle WINNER Jill Samonte-O'Neill...congrats Jill!!

THANK YOU so very much for the opportunity to donate to the Denniston Foundation AND get a chance to see U2 on Saturday night. There's a reason that the Garden is the greatest arena in the world...the concert was AMAZING!

The seats were great. We never sat in them, though, we were on our feet the whole concert, dancing and singing at the top of our lungs. We even sat next to some crazy U2 fans that made the experience even better! They played 3 encores and even played songs not in the set. (I think NYC is one of their favorite places to play.)
Bono got a little political (imagine that), but it was all about the war on poverty. It would be great to have them incorporate local foundations that help around the world, huh? (They'll be back in October!)

My favorite song of the evening was "Where the Streets Have No Name". We both were transported back 18 years ago to the Joshua Tree tour. It was a great night.

Founded in 2003, the Denniston Thomas Foundation's mission is to empower underserved children and youth worldwide to live happy lives and become independent members of their communities. Through the implementation of youth development projects and educational scholarships, the Foundation works to eliminate obstacles to children and youth's education and social development.

None of us know whether the little we are able to do makes any difference, but we need to do it just the same. The important thing is to live as a whole human being, not to let anyone stop you responding fully to the people and situations around you...

Have Sky Miles? They make a great contribution to our organization. Trips to the Countries we work with help keep us in touch with the people we're trying to help. The more we can get down there, the better we can help. If you have miles available and don't want to deal with the awful seats they'll get you donate them to The Denniston Thomas Foundation. The value of the miles you donate is Tax Deductible!

If you are passionate about the issues that the Denniston Thomas Foundation is working on and would like to help, we invite you to contact us. Sitting on a Committee would involve helping with fundraising and working on special projects to assist the Foundation.

You can help the children with work with by becoming a faithful "pen pal". These children need all the emotional and motivational support they can get. The correspondence process can also aid in cross-cultural understanding. Pen pals via mail or email are available.
